3 Days 2 Nights Batang Ai Iban Longhouse

Itinerary:
Day 1                  ORANG UTAN – BATANG AI                                                  (L/D)
8.00 am Meet our friendly guide at hotel lobby.  Then proceed to Semenggoh Orang Utan Centre which is about 22 km from Kuching.  It is the only one of its kind in Sarawak.  Set up in 1975, this 7.4 sq km of virgin forest is home to orang utans.  This tour provides an opportunity of a lifetime to observe how the orang utans are being rehabilitated and trained to fend for themselves in the centre.  Visitors are allowed to study and observe the orang utans at a distance.
(Feeding Time:  9.00 am – 10.00 am)
Then proceed to Serian Town, a brief stop at the Serian Market before the journey continues to Lauchau for lunch and buy some gifts for the Longhouse folks.
On the way the guide will stop the pepper farm before reaching Lauchau.
After lunch, proceed to Batang Ai Dam jetty.
At the jetty take the longboat to the Iban Longhouse.
Upon reaching the longhouse, you are free to tour the longhouse.
Dinner will be served in the longhouse. 
After dinner, relax and watch the Iban Cultural performance.  Then get together and learn more about their life style in the forest, before retire to sleep.
                                                                                                               
DAY 2                  BATANG AI IBAN LONGHOUSE                                                  

 (B/L/D)
After breakfast, proceed to jungle walk, passing through the rainforest and the padi field, looking for wild fern.
Then walking along the stream to the waterfall for relaxing and dipping in the cool clear water.
Lunch will be prepared by them, but you are encourage to join to help and learn about how the way they are cooking.
After lunch proceed back to the longhouse.  In the longhouse, free and easy.
Dinner will be served in the longhouse.  After dinner relax till bed time.

DAY 3                  BATANG AI LONGHOUSE  - KUCHING AIRPORT               (B/L)
After breakfast, get really for departure.  Before leaving the longhouse the Iban will demonstrate how to use of the blowpipe in the olden days.
Then farewell to the people.
Same route back to Kuching – en route for lunch before reaching Kuching.


      

 

Advice:  For this trip you are recommended to travel light. (Personal belonging in a small backpack/sling pack and under a plastic wrap)  Bring along mosquitoes repellent, sun cream, torchlight, towel, toiletries, swim-wear and kampun adiddas shoes if possible, as to walk in the forest and in the stream.

DAY TRIP
BAKO NATIONAL PARK


Bako National Park is the oldest Park in Sarawak and it is 27 square kilometres sanctuary. With its rainforest, abundant wildlife, jungle streams, waterfalls, interesting plant life, secluded beaches, panoramic rocky shoreline, bizarre rock formations and extensive network of trekking trails, Bako National Park offers visitors an excellent introduction to the rainforest and coastline of Borneo. Bako may not have an instantly recognisable star attraction, but there can be very few places in the world that pack so much natural beauty into such a limited area, all just 37 km from Kuching. Its accessibility - and its sheer range of attractions and activities – has made Bako one of the most popular parks in Sarawak.
Bako is probably the best place in Sarawak for wildlife experiences. so the animals are less wary of humans. Visitors, especially those who stay overnight, will have countless opportunities to observe and photograph various types of wildlife.
Bako contains an incredible variety of plant species and vegetation types, and this is one of the park’s great attractions. At Bako it is possible to see almost every type of vegetation found in Borneo. 25 distinct types of vegetation form seven complete eco-systems - Beach Vegetation, Cliff Vegetation, Kerangas or Heath Forest, Mangrove Forest, Mixed Dipterocarp Forest, Padang or Grasslands Vegetation and Peat Swamp Forest. It is easy to explore these eco-systems via the jungle trails. The contrasts are so distinct that you do not have to be a scientist to notice the differences. Furthermore, most of the different vegetation types are found close to the park HQ at Telok Assam.



8.00 am Meet at the hotel lobby, and depart for Bako National Park. Upon arrival at the Bako Jetty get on to the speed boat and to be transfer to Bako Headquarter. 
The Bako National Park tour will take you on a trip to explore this recreational located and its flora and fauna, including the carnivorous pitcher plant and the proboscis monkey, silver-leaf monkey, long tail macaque, green viper snake, wild boar and etc.  Winding your way through the park to indented sandy bays which are good for swimming locations.
Then take the speed boat ride along the coastal area to see the beautiful rock formation which had been form thousand of years.  Then make a quick stop at one of the beach to climb up the clip to have a good and beautiful view looking out at South China Sea, the beach and the forest before returning to the headquarter for lunch. 
After lunch stroll along the beach or the trail behind the canteen searching for more wildlife, before returning back to Kuching using the same route back.

Satang Island

DAY TRIP SATANG ISLAND (3 IN 1)
 








Pick up from Kuching City Area, and then proceed to the jetty.
Upon arrival board onto the speed boat and being the cruise to Santubong River mouth.  You will be able to spot for the elusive and rare schools of Irrawaddy Dolphins in this area.  Where the dolphins and the fishermen fishing for fishes and at times you can witness the Dolphins playing around the area.  Then continue to the Salak River for the Mangrove Wildlife Cruise.  The mangrove shoreline offers sightings of many exciting wildlife including proboscis monkeys, long tailed macaque monkeys silver-leaf monkeys and crocodiles.  A range of bird life, including kingfishers, white-bellied sea eagles and other shore birds can also be found here.  Then head out to South-China Sea for Satang Island.  This island is part of the Talang/Satang National Park where the turtle conservation project is located on the island.  Look in on the hatchery to get an idea of the conservation work being carried out on these highly endangered sea creatures.  Before reaching the island will pass through the birds island to see lot of shore birds rounding the island.  

Spend time on the island’s white sandy beach, swimming or go snorkeling, before returning to the mainland and to be transfer back to Kuching City.
